Baked Apples And Spice

The key with this recipe is to use really sweet apples – avoid the tartness of cooking apples to eliminate the need for extra sweetener. Just a touch of cinnamon and it is ready to bake. Many of the most beneficial compounds in apples are in the skin so keep the skin on and preferably choose organic apples as they are number one in pesticides residue! You can serve it with a dollop natural live yogurt or cultured kefir yogurt, and chopped nuts or seeds to add protein.
Preparation time: 5-10 mins
Cooking time: 20-30 minutes

INGREDIENTS

Serves 4
  • 4 organic apples
  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1tsp cinnamon powder)
  • 1 cardamom pod (optional)
  • 1 dollop of natural live yogurt or kefir yogurt (optional)
  • 1tbs of nuts and seeds (optional)

Preheat your oven at 180C

Remove the core from the apples with a corer or a knife. Place them on a baking tray.

Add cinnamon, and cardamom if you’d like and place in the oven

Bake for 30 minutes. Enjoy!
